Blessed Marie-Alphonsine Danil Ghattas (October 4, 1843—March 25, 1927) was a Palestinian Christian nun who was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009. She was inspired by the Virgin Mary to co-found the Congregation of the Rosary Sisters, the only Arab religious order in the Holy Land to date.[1] The rite of beatifiication undertaken by Archbishop Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, at a Mass celebrated by Patriarch Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, on 22 November 2009 at the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth.[2]
